July 2018 Eclipse Energies Are Ramping Up

by SedonaJeannie on July 7, 2018

It’s been a long time since I’ve felt compelled to share what’s happening in the realm of the planets, suffice to say it’s been a tough year (for everyone, or so it seems).  So when I started noticing the phone ringing like crazy, I knew I’d better put out some supportive reminders about the energies of this month.

I leave the regular horoscope writing for those who enjoy writing daily news but with eclipses, it’s important to recognize the signs early; before they become a problem.  Think in terms of the iceberg principle: you only see the topmost portion, which is usually a very small percentage, with the worst danger lurking beneath the surface.

I follow the eclipse cycles when doing update and transit astrology readings because eclipses will always show where the most growth potential is in any given year.  The eclipses are like a nagging parent reminding us to face the inner messages from the Moon and the outer egoic needs of the Sun.  I say that because the Moon represents part of us so deep that we can easily suppress them …for a while.

My hero and mentor Robert Wilkinson teaches astrology and blogs daily about what’s going on “out there” (while I try to bring it down to Earth and explain to people what’s going on “in here” as a result).  Robert puts a great deal of information in his articles so I will post a few paragraphs here to give a ‘sneek peek’ at what we are all dealing with.  For those brave enough, follow the link to his site and read the full article.  You will have to sift through astrological jargon, but even if you don’t understand half of what he says you will come away with a few treasured nuggets.

Since we usually have two Solar Eclipses each year and they often affect us for several years after they occur, today we’ll explore what they are and how their influence works. They are recurring important stellar events, and there are a lot of myths about them. Historically, an eclipse, whether Solar or Lunar, is one of the most dreaded events in all of astrology.

This year is one of those uncommon years when we’ll actually have three Solar Eclipses! They are all Partial Eclipses, and none are very bright or seen by very many people. The first Solar Eclipse of 2018 was in February at 27 Aquarius. The one about to happen is the dimmest of the 3, with the last one this year in August at 19 Leo being the brightest of 2018, but still not as bright as many in the past or coming years.

The coming Partial Solar Eclipse falls at 21 Cancer at 7:48 pm PDT on July 12, 3:48 am BST. I’ll explain more about its unique qualities over the next 10 days. Today we’ll discuss Solar Eclipses in general.
