Thanksgiving 2013

GivingThanksWhat gives you a feeling of gratitude and appreciation?  What will you be giving thanks for on the day that we as a nation celebrate our freedom in the new world?

It is a new world after all.  Not only have we been freed of our ties to England and the Queen mother (in 1776), we have passed through the eye of the needle, the center of our galaxy and the end of time according to the Mayan Calendar (in 2012).

Yes we are fully into the new age and everyone is feeling the need to adjust to the new environment.  Some are having to face financial issues, others relationship issues, aging and health concerns and the confusion about the loss of loved ones and friends whether by freak accident, suicide or sudden onset of illness.

Still, there seems to be a sweet scent of optimism in the air, like a pumpkin pie baking somewhere off in the distance.  We know that something good will come eventually, we hope it will be soon. In the meantime we bring our attention to our homes, our families and what brings us a sense of immediate comfort.

We focus on the good we have experienced, the love and friendship, our beloved animal companions, and if we are lucky to know them; our Spirit guides.

I saw this handwritten page of things that bring peace and gratitude to an artist who lives in Sedona and I wanted to capture it for eternity because each item sang to my heart.

While there is radiation flooding into the ocean and poison being injected into our seeds, earth changes rumbling in the way of earthquakes, volcanoes and super storm cells, our thoughts and feelings have a much greater effect on our environment in the end.

Today I choose to focus on the loved ones in my life, to remain awed by the ways that they support me and my goals, and to maintain a state of grace.  I intend to speak of all that is good, comforting, loving and kind, to know the power in the words we choose and to use them with intention.

It is the most empowering thing we can do for ourselves, our loved ones, those in our immediate environment and the planet.  What will you be thankful for this season? If  you cannot think of much to be thankful for, you may borrow from the list above :~)

I recently learned of a friend who reached the limit of his faith and ended his life prematurely – if there is someone that you feel is facing their limit please beam your love and support from heart to heart. It is not the words we say but the way people feel when with us that convey their value.  We could all use a few more hugs and words of encouragement and we never know when the last time we embraced someone will be the last time we embrace.

In gratitude and appreciation to all those who have loved me ~ you know who you are :~)
